Memorial Day. National Missing Children’s Day.

Events

* All city and county government offices are closed for Memorial Day. Ainsworth’s Monday garbage route will be picked up on Tuesday.

* All U.S. and state flags are to be flown at half staff today in recognition of Memorial Day and the deaths of Omaha Police Officer Kerri Orozco and U.S. Marine Capt. Dustin Lukasiewicz.

* Area senior centers and libraries are closed for the holiday.

* The KBR Solid Waste and Recycling Center is closed today.

* Newport Memorial Day service, 9 a.m.
* Bassett Memorial Day service, 10 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.

* Ainsworth Memorial Day service, 10 a.m. in the Ainsworth American Legion Hall on Woodward Street.

* Long Pine Memorial Day service, 10 a.m. has been moved from the cemetery to the Long Pine Legion Hall due to the weather.

* The Ainsworth American Legion and Legion Auxiliary will take down flags and crosses at 4 p.m. beginning at the South Cemetery. All help would be appreciated.

* The Ainsworth Conference Center walking track reopens today. The gym remains closed due to the gym floor being resurfaced. The gym is scheduled to reopen June 15.

* The Ainsworth American Legion is hosting a benefit Indian taco dinner from 6 until 8 p.m. in the Post Home on Woodward Street. Dessert and drinks will also be provided, with a freewill donation supporting the E&L baseball and softball program.
